Our menu includes Scallop Cakes, Shrimp and Grits, Linguine and Clams, Ranch Pork Chops, Braised Ham Shanks, Barbecue Smoked Chicken, and Chicken Etouffe’. First time visiting last night. Spent about $130. I got snow crabs, mussels, Philly cheesesteak, gator tail.. o wanted blue crabs because I’ve never had em but they were out. But I am impressed. Really good. The snow crabs had so much meat in them. I was going to get the king crab but was told to do snow crab because you get more. It was so good I forgot to get pics.
Do not go here. We came in on 5/10. There was only 2 occupied tables being used but we were left standing with no greeting or hello for 15 min until we waved some one down. The entry way was also used as a storage area for supplies and such. Not a good look. We were seated and the waiter took our drink orders. 1 beer, bloody mary, and 2 Margaritas (raspberry & peach) . We sent the Bloody Mary back due to having lint or fuzz on the shrimp pepper stick, the margaritas were to be frozen with rim cover of sugar (waiter asked salt or sugar) it came out frothy not frozen in a little black plastic cup and no rim treatment. We did not drink. The meal my husband got was not good The flounder was a cut strip from a filet that still had skin that was curled around a glob of crab stuffing and 3 shrimp and sauce poured on it. $38. Fishy and poor seasoning. I had a shrimp basket. just shrimp and fries $27. Then the bill came. We knew about the auto 18% gratuity but looking at the amount it was more so I asked and we were told about booze tax fees was added and seafood tax fees. We Will Never go back and this will be posted in every place I can. Oh by the way when I asked for Mgr I was told no one was in charge.

Second time here and again it was good. Our server Landon I do believe. Was super helpful and always asking if we were ok. He did awesome. We have decided that that'll be apart of our family lunches when we're down here. Recommend!
Took my wife there in hopes of getting her Blue Crabs, Nope they don't have any until June. I ordered and specified a soft shell crab sandwich plain. Nothing but crab and buttered bun. Nope, lettuce, tomatoes Pickles and some kind of sauce. Wife had broiled platter, waitress offered Mahi or Red fish. Came out with Flounder was told that's what they use. Wife ate a couple scallops and a couple shrimp left the rest on the plate. Everything ran into a watery mess on her plate. Not to mention my first drink got sent back for tasting like dish soap. Was told they had a new washer. We will never go back again. Left our plates barely eaten, paid and left. Didn't get to far away wife felt I'll. Terrible place to eat!!! Never going back.

This place is overrated, the seafood we ordered was over fried very mushy. Never was said on the menu it was fried. Corn was terrible. Was charged a $27 setvice fee. Overall the food was terrible. Our first time eating here and our last time.
Below average seafood at fine dining prices, avoid this place if possible. The fried shrimp was good, as was the chicken but the crab dip smelled very strongly of and tasted more like fish. The Low Country Boil was awful, absolutely no seasoning on it, and the sausage was almost jerky-like. The bill had a "service-fee" of $4 that the waitress couldn't explain. Overall an extremely pricey, below average meal for three.
One of the only places open during spring break week and I’m not upset about it. It was delicious!!! Highly recommend the DDX oysters. They were to DIE for!!! Service was great as well.
Overall, pretty good experience. When we arrived, the man at the host station was a little rude to us and was clearly confused about how to handle having to sit a baby in a high chair at our table. The waitress was nice, but she was definitely on her A-game as I had to ask for a refill, but was on top of getting my husband his refills. The food was good, but or course, pricey. If you are military, let them know beforehand because I was charged twice and they had to do a refund and it was very confusing. The food was great, however, the service could use some work.
Love the Gator Bites, and Gator tacos and all the other food they make. We stop here every time we go on vacation yearly
The service that we had was great the waiter tried to make sure that we had everything we needed even though he was really busy. The food was pretty good; it was not as good as other Seafood I have had other places but it was good enough that we will go back especially when we are in the Outer Banks again. The atmosphere is loud. Not a bad atmosphere it's just loud and really open and it might be what they are going for. It was a very fun experience though and we made sure to grab something from the souvenir shop before we left!

We sat at the bar for the special on shrimp. The steamed shrimp was so good. I also got the boil as a side and it was delicious. My hubby got the clam chowder in a bread bowl and said it was very good.
Forced gratuity, no thank you. Two separate families sitting at the same table with two separate bills. Forced gratuity of 18% on subpar service and mediocre food. If we would have dirtied up two separate tables we would have been able to choose our own tip. Will not be back.
Just a great place for a big family! We had 4 kids with us, 2, 5, 6 and 10. Great waiter who refilled the shark when one child spilled it. Also he gave a great lesson on crab cracking! Fast service with a smile! When same chaotic kid skinned her knee on the way out, hostess was sweet as can be and found a bandaid. Great experience! Wonderful food! Giant portions! Highly recommend! Wish I’d gotten the names!
Very large group that came in and the place was not busy AT ALL. Took them 5 minutes to put silverware down and menus while we stood at the host stand watching them. Once seated they gave us one waitress who kicked butt and deserves a raise! 25 people and no one helped her except to bring food. The food was ok….nothing to be too impressed with. The Bloody Mary was just ok….I expected more but was more watered down tomato juice with barely any vodka.

I had Maui Maui and it was perfect absolutely delicious the whole dinner was excellent. Love the hush puppies !!

My family and I visited this Thursday evening to celebrate my child’s 13th birthday. We arrived approximately around 6:30pm and were immediately seated. We were a party of 8, so it was surprising we got seated so quickly; however, that was one of the few enjoyments of the night.
We ordered the clam chowder bowl, kids chicken tender basket, flounder and shrimp plate, and two 1/2 orders of snow crab with the boil. My families food arrived after waiting for about 40 minutes. They all were satisfied with the flavor of their food. Myself and my child weren’t served our crab leg meals until my family was finished eating their entire meal. Four of our members had already left the restaurant while we were still eating. We also weren’t provided and drink refills until most of our food was already eaten.
Our server was very nice, but seemed to be overwhelmed with the tables she was taking care of. We were then offered two free desserts for “waiting so long”. I then asked for a discount instead of the desserts since we already had cake waiting. We did receive a 15% discount for the issue which was about half the price of one crab leg meal. This was disappointing due to the fact that mine and my daughter’s food consisted of over half the price of our bill, and we weren’t even able to enjoy our meal with our family.
Overall, too pricy and poor service. Will not be returning.

Kind of kitschy place that draw people in with its name, obviously. Seafood was fresh and food was hot. It was good but nothing to write home about.

Clean , fast courteous service, food was great ! Made multiple visits to this location, always a pleasure and good meal . Will return next year .
Arrived 5:55 on a weened night, off- season, with a party of four. It seemed busy and we were told we would need to wait a half hour.
After the full wait at 6;30 we were let into the dining room and there were at least 13+ OPEN TABLES! A quarter of the restuarant was empty!

My family ordered take out, for the most part the crab legs were good and came out easily, 3 out of the 6 of us got the stuffed flounder and were disappointed, it’s listed to be pan fried but did not seem to be, it also lacked flavor, the crab cakes were good, good flavor and filled with crab. jambalaya was pretty good. grandma got the the grits and loved it!

Another member got the shrimp and grits, with chicken substituted for shrimp. Chicken was rather tough, and I really couldn't decide if I liked the sauce or not. It almost tasted like it was made with beer? Not a good flavor profile for the dish, and I actually left it behind, something I never do.
I also had a cesar salad, something I know I love. There was so much sauce, and it was so rich, It was overwhelming, and I wish I had less sauce and more leaf.
Finally, and sadly, the key lime pie we got to go was... lackluster? It was topped with coolwhip, and altogether tasted not like key lime pie, only hints of lime.
We paid so much for a mediocre experience. I wouldn't mind if it was one bad dish, or if it was cheap. But there was a lot not to like here I'm sorry to say.
Honestly, there are so many good places to eat around the OBX, don't take chances here.

If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. Don't waste your time. Food is not fresh and they charge market price. Food came out cold and mushy. Should have listened to the locals and went somewhere else.

Crab leg portions were horrible. Crab meat was very dry. Service was lacking. Drawn butter was brought to me with a dead fly in it. Not worth the price and definitely not worth the Service fee we were charged

It was bad. In the top 10 of my worst meals. I really apologize for giving this result. But it tasted like this result.
This is a very nice place to eat. The service was friendly. They said it might take an hour to get seated since we had a large crowd but they seated us within 15 minutes. The server was nice polite and updated us on our meal which didn’t take long to come. The seafood was quality and I had leftovers to make a second meal from. The restaurant was clean and orderly. The prices are a bit high but that’s because I basically got two meals out of one order. I will be back next time I’m here.
A little slow BUT the food OMG!!! We got their $16 pound deal and they give you so much food! The steaks were cooked to perfection and the shrimp were spiced up with Ole Bay seasoning. The waitress was very friendly. One of the best places we've been.
My son ordered a cheeseburger from the kids meal menu and it was raw inside and burnt on the outside. The waiter was exceptional!

If I could give a Os across the board I would. If I could go into the negatives, it would be more fitting. After waiting 30 minutes, patiently and without issue, the incompetent manager disregarded the hostess telling her multiple times that we were there first to seat a party of 18 that had just walked in the door. This restaurant does NOT take reservations, so it was not an issue with reservation. Instead of reseating the party of 18, we received a halfhearted excuse from a manager who hides behind the waitstaff to avoid taking responsibility for her own incompetence. So if you would like to eat somewhere and not deal with the fumblings of a manager clearly in over-her head, I would suggest eating somewhere else.
They make you tip for a party over 6 so that’s already pretty bad food is ok but the price is kind of outrageous, I understand that it’s outer banks and all but if you didn’t force a tip for a party over 6 it would be a better review.
Boring atmosphere and feels like you are trapped inside of a box. Food came out barely warm and was very underwhelming.
The server was so kind and attentive. The Get pounded was awesome for snow crab.. but you MUST get the white chocolate bread pudding.. it is worth the calories.

We started with coconut shrimp that were plump inside crisp sweet and savory batter. The fried crab lasagna is a delightful contrast in textures—a firm fried exterior (not greasy on the least) surrounding a lush mixture of mozzarella, ricotta, and plenty of shredded crab. The meal was so rich and the portion so generous that I enjoyed part of it for lunch the next day.
My wife reported that the key lime pie was the best she’d ever eaten.

Manager and food and staff was amazing. I work for Chickfila on vacation and this is the best place in the outer banks. Just amazing 👏. Thank you for the hospitality. 100% will be back and tell others. Wow.
Was turned away when I tried to take my 6 month old in his stroller. They said they couldn’t seat me anywhere even though we were one of the first to arrive. The stroller wasn’t large, and we were happy to sit anywhere. Take your money elsewhere if you’ve got any small children. Wish I would’ve read the other review about the stroller before we showed up so we would’ve known to go elsewhere.
On July 2nd, we had a party of 7 at 5pm. Walked right in, hostess was very friendly and showed us to a table. Nice atmosphere! Our waiter, Todd, super nice young man. Very polite and attentive! Our food was out fast and everyone cleaned their plates. From the fresh flounder, to the crab melt sandwich to the stuffed flounder, everything was delicious and fresh! 5 stars all the way!
I ordered the SNO Trinity, expecting a variety of SNO crab, shrimp, corn and a few others as advertised. I was disappointed in the whole thing. The snow crab clusters were small (very small), the shrimp were overcooked, and the corn tasteless.. all for $88.99, which it was NOT worth. The only thing I can rate with a solid positive is the service. Our server was outstanding and attentive. He did a great job. The food not so much....
This place has gone so far downhill and it makes me sad. They have a happy hour advertised daily but you can only get it at the bar which only has about 6 chairs. Our waiter, Dillian, was only a few cents more than useless, and with gratuity included in the bill he had no incentive to be better. The tip is snuck in on the bill with the 3% "service charge" so I'm sure that people are tricked into tipping extra. Food was very overpriced and the quantity was very little for the price. Some of our crab orders came with corn/potatoes and some didn't. When I asked about it Dillian said it would cost extra to get more for the ones that didn't get it, and it was "just how the kitchen sends them up" which determines who got it it not.
That said, they have the best hush puppies I've ever had, and the quality of the seafood is pretty good. I wish they could bring back all you can eat crab, then I'd consider coming back.

The DDKs in Avon was great. Service was good and food was great. We stopped for lunch and was pleasantly surprised
11 people and not a single good plate of food. Don’t even get me started on the crab cakes… or should I call it filler cake. Literally 99% filler. Couldn’t even eat it.
Food was pretty good. Friendly service. Not the best seafood I’ve ever eaten, but it’s tasty. I recommend the alligator tail appetizer and the catch of the day. Both were delicious.

We couldn't be seated because we have a stroller and didn't want to remove our 2 month old sleeping baby from it. The stroller base is smaller than a wheelchair, so not sure if they would turn away patrons who use a wheelchair as well. When we asked if we could just be at the bar, we were told it was "illegal", which is not true (we were not going to serve the baby any alcohol...). Anywho, beware wheelchair or handicap patrons, you may be turned away so as not to inconvenience the wait staff.

As you can imagine, the options for vegetarians or vegans is very sad, but I was able to find some thing I could eat. My friend, how, got the flounder and it tasted off. The staff took care of it quickly, and she was happy with what she brought back, so I think the place is worthwhile, just note that if you are vegetarian or vegan eat something before you go, although vegetarians will have an easier time finding something. Also, everyone else at the table, swear by the hush puppies.

The food was very subpar for a seafood restaurant. Had ordered the stuffed flounder. This crab meat I think it was flavored stuffing. As to the flounder in was not cook and had to send it back. As to the drinks, just average. I would say that the best part of our meal was the waiter. Overall I think this will be our last dining experience here
It kinda sucked. Came here a few years ago end of season and it was good. This year at the beginning it sucked. The alcoholic drinks the other 3 in my party got were hardly alcoholic, not saying it needs to burn going down, but it was comparable to a virgin drink. The server was awesome, and took care of every issue we came across. My girlfriend got a flounder dish, which was terrible, I tried it and my issue was the texture while the rest said it was the taste itself. Then her side vegetables tasted like they were cooked in crab and lobster water. Shrimp and grits were good, but making the mistake of taking the bite of flounder before finishing I nearly puked.
Sadly not sure if even give one star if I was being honest- we we seated at a table that was off balance horribly, our waitress couldn’t have had less desire to be at her job in general (we all have our days I’m aware) and most of us went without refills or anything else because we saw her to get drinks, take order and bring bill that’s it! Hopefully it was just an off day🤷♀️

Service can be hit or miss. Food is generally pretty good. Its a fun place to eat with some great seafood. A $30 sevice fee on a $150 tab for a table of 6? Before tip? No thanks. We have come here 5+ times over 4 years. Each time, the experience has gotten worse and worse. Wont be back.

Great place in Avon to get some delicious food and great drinks. Service was very welcoming and attentive. Food was served promptly and was hot. Got the fried shrimp and flounder with a red beans and rice side instead of the fries. Hush puppies are tasty and served with melted butter. Try the Carolina Copperline beer on draft. Excellent amber. The manager goes above and beyond to ensure you are presented with a delicious meal.

Had a variety of food, most was good but some were not at all. Daughter ordered fried shrimp with her salad and it came out with the breading slimy. Son's side veggies were actually still frozen. For the price portions were fairly small. Red Drum and Mahi were good though. Chicken was great.
So much fun! The atmosphere was much friendlier than the Nags Head location.

Used to eat here at the beginning of our vacation but August 2023 will be our last time. Food was mediocre for 6 out of 8 of us. Not fresh or hot. A couple of us liked the shrimp and grits. Server definitely wanted to be somewhere else. Will not split checks, 18 percent gratuity for 6 and more, NO SHARING sign and up charges galore. Plus a 3 percent service charge. I don't mind paying but at least have good food and good service.
Staff were great and very helpful. Food was fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

Great food and great service at lunch today. My husband and I had the Mahi and were very happy we stopped here on our way to Cape Hatteras lighthouse.
Not bad. They were very short staffed, but everyone was great. They did forget our appetizers. But wasn't the end of the world. Our platter were well proportioned.
Ate at the bar. Hush puppies were great! Had the fried green tomatoes app … wow! Tremendous presentation and excellent with the crab meat. Stuffed flounder was good. Service was excellent.
Did not have a good experience. Unfortunately, they are understaffed, this lent itself to getting our orders wrong and a long wait time. The food was also not well prepared. I hope that they are able to get more workers as that would really help.

Absolutely the worst crab legs ever, such a disappointment!! The food was cold, the serving portion was minimal for the amount of money we paid. We got a 1/3 ear of corn, 2 tiny red potatoes, and a awful tasting sausage. We ordered a full size plate and the 3 small bunches of crab legs had to be old, the crab meat stuck to the shell and everything was cold (even the butter). Our server said she would have gladly sent it back, but she only came back to our table to ask us about our ticket. On the positive side, they have great tasting hush puppies.

This evening my family and I arrived at your restaurant at 6:50. We walked in and politely waited as the hostess was on the phone. While waiting we grabbed menus as we have heard amazing reviews from our family & friends about the quality of customer service as well as the food. The hostess hung up the phone, my husband asked “is this the front door?” as we had been standing there for awhile without any greeting. As she walked out the door and another gentleman and his party entered the restaurant, through the same doors, the hostess grabbed menus and stated “your table is ready!”
Upon her return, I was quite perplexed, but my family & I waited patiently to be greeted to no avail. I looked at my husband to ask if the hostess had greeted him, he responded no. I walked over to the hostess to ask if we needed to call in to book a reservations. She stated “no!”
Then my husband asked if we could be seated.
“She then asked how many were in our party?”
I’ve never felt so unseen. We frequent Hatteras as we own a time share and visit frequently to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We were looking forward to adding an amazing review and telling our friends we shared the same amazing experience. Unfortunately, I was left feeling baffled!

While the customer service wasn’t welcoming, the positive out of this unpleasant experience was we had the opportunity to go to a locally owned and operated restaurant called COCKEYED CLAM. The food & staff were absolutely amazing! And only seven minutes down the road. Always find the rainbow!

Went there well before it closed, there was no one at the hostess stand & had multiple employees looking over at us but no one acknowledged us. Even tried calling the restaurant and the phone number didn’t even work.
Overall this was a vibe, the food was ok, shrimp was overdone but crabs were great, hushpuppies delicious and the tortellini was amazing! Drew was our server and he was cool!
Came for their very largely advertised happy hour from 3-6pm on a Monday night only to be told were too big of a party to be at the bar- so we were seated for dinner, but happy hour is only at the bar… so it’s full price drinks. We ate anyway. Dinner was average/below average. tacos fell apart, hamburger bun was so hard we couldn’t bite it. Fried food was good (coconut shrimp and clam strips).

Our food was good. Large portions. No oysters on the half shell 🙁 They were actually out of quite a few things. Our server was great. Bar service was slow. We were seated right away as a party of 6 but larger parties that arrived right before us (7+ people) were told an hour wait!
The server was very nice however and this is a big however. My husband's fish was served partly raw. My guess is the fish was frozen and not properly thawed out. My husband didn't notice the raw part until he got had eaten about half. The texture was off too. The manager took off 25% however my husband ended up getting sick to his stomach when we got home. I got shrimp and felt off too but not as bad as him. The seafood was just off and it's apparent it was not cooked properly. I would not recommend this place based on the potential for food poisoning due to improper cooking.
The softshell crab meal and the full order of snow crab legs were pretty good. The restaurant is so cold that my butter solidified.
It was good, oysters were a little dirty , but delicious. Thy were out of crawfish, so shrimp Mac and cheese. A little to cheesy lol . Husband wasn’t a fan of the stuffed Flounder, it looked delicious though.
Y'all I hate leaving bad reviews but this place was less than fair at best. We went here after realizing the place we wanted to go was closed for a private event. My husband ordered the broiled seafood platter and I got the gumbo and red beans and rice.
Broiled seafood platter was one small piece of flounder, 4 shrimp, potatoes, 3 scallops and a large crab cake. The best thing on the plate was the crab cake. The gumbo was dry and the red beans and rice was the gumbo with red beans on top.
The ceiling was dirty, our waiter acted like he had better places to be.

Idk about other people's experience but ours was nothing shy of excellent. Food was very prompt! The flavor is amazing! The breading will make you want to slap your momma! The best part is the home made sauces! Andrew was our server and did a phenomenal job! They taste like none other. Nothing was bad about our food or experience. Thank you!
Delicious food! Several different seafood options. The fried shrimp an oysters were delicious! The fried gator tail was delicious! The hush puppies were tasty!
The location and atmosphere were really great here. Service was prompt and friendly. If you're looking for a quick bite of some fresh seafood at earlier times of the day this place is very convenient. I rated 4 stars as I do have to say there were some better options for sea food in the area; however they aren't open until later in the day which made this a convenient option with no wait. Worth a try or a visit to their bar during happy hour.
Had a fairly good first time experience here yesterday. Dishwasher was broken so they didn’t have regular plates or utensils which wasn’t really a big deal but worth mentioning. The food was pretty good. Loved the hush puppies & the raw oysters were yummy. Several of my family members got the Crabby Marys & loved them. Our waiter, Jeremy, made the whole experience better. He was great!
