Currently offering TAKE-OUT ONLY SERVICE. They serve authentic, eastern North Carolina-style pork barbecue. The pork is smoked for hours over hickory, hand-chopped, and then seasoned with a light, vinegar-based sauce that doesn’t overpower the natural flavor of the smoked meat. The Southern fried chicken is crisp and delicious. The smoked chicken is so tender it falls right off the bone, and the Texas-style beef brisket is smoked, sliced, and served with a tangy sauce. St. Louis cut ribs are the local’s favorite for good reason. Portions here are generous. We Traveled From Norfolk to Nags Head NC... We asked at A Couple different Stores "Where could We Get some Good BBQ?" All Folks said.. High Cotton BBQ... We Stopped And found out "TAKE OUT ONLY"... But we were treated so well when we talked to Cashier We decided to order And Eat at Picnic Table outside... Very Quick service... Good Prices... Great Amount of food... It was A Beautiful Day And The Side dish of Cooked Cabbage AMAZING! Great Folks Great Food Great Price...
Every year that we make it to the Outerbanks, we make a stop or two here. Today was no different when it comes to the quality of food and service -5 stars all day long! Joe was our cashier- and he was awesome! He was super polite and really just amazing! Portions are also great, especially for the kids. For the kids the portions are enough for 2 lunches for the younger ones. We will be back later this week and the next time we are down here!
We opted to do all the sides ourselves so we could get more BBQ meats--so we didn't do the family deals.Ribs were the best menu item. Smoked chicken was better than the fried chicken. Brisket was ok. I prefer thinner slices so that's why I wasn't impressed.Overall, it is a reasonable priced BBQ for a night in on vacation.
If you want the best BBQ at the Outer Banks, drop on by to High Cotton Barbeque!!! The BEST BBQ we've had in a while. Incredible food, service, and experience overall! HIGHLY recommend this place!! The staff are incredibly sweet and hilarious too!! Would work there if I lived nearby:))
Service is take out only, but super nice and took us maybe 5 minutes to get in and out. The brisket and pork were good, a variety of sauce was given to us. The slaw was very creamy, okra was the right amount of crispy and the mac and cheese was good. If you are in the area I would give it a try, not sure I would drive for it though.
